Pierwszy rok działalności Little Bit Academy: jak twórczo korzystać z nowych technologii.


Aliens look for a new home for themselves. They choose Earth. They are deeply disappointed, since people’s reactions are far from positive. You can hear them saying: Earth for Earthlings! Who are these weirdos? Get out of here! Aliens shift their shapes into human-like and go to school to educate kids on racism and intolerance. They meet a troll there who fires negative comments on them. They teleport to the distant past. They are on an island where two tribes fight against each other – Tole and Rance. The game is about intolerance and hate. I was responsible for various backgrounds in the game like the Earth, city or like mountains. I was responsible for editing humans, which helped us to create the crowd. We used Lua programming language. I created the characters, together with my friend we also designed a logo of both the company and the game. What they’ve learned is how to try to create some content, instead of consuming it. It’s about creating assets, writing a proper code. Creating an entire script. It is first of all necessary to program a game, it includes some elements of logics, mathematics. We try to convey the rules of design thinking to them. We introduced the Kanban boards. When we make a game, they actually have everything available at once. They can verify how the things they created a second ago work in practice. If the effects can be observed immediately, after writing just a few lines of the code their eyes were literally sparkling with excitement. Their experience is about engaging in something but with no pressure. Our first team rule was: there is no such thing as a stupid idea. We addressed each other with our first names. It quickly resulted in children becoming open-hearted. They were not afraid to say something or to be exposed to criticism or unfamiliarity. They are able to tell us more. If anything is missing, what could be actually improved, or if they have problem with anything. When we were on more official terms with kids, a lot of problems simply didn’t come to light. Better communication than during the lessons for instance, because then everyone works individually, and here everybody gives each other tips and hints how to do it better.
