100 thoughts to “Artificial intelligence & algorithms: pros & cons | DW Documentary (AI documentary)”

  1. Self driving cars are 10 years away… you say? Have you ever heard about Tesla? What motivated you not to interview Me Elon Musk? In your other fields of AI it also seems like you picked companies that paid you not ones that actually are making the greatest contributions.

  2. I do like this video thank you for making it what I am waiting for the cure for not any treatments at all just the cure for (multiple sclerosis) that would help out many others with M.S. to help themout. ๐Ÿ˜ถ

  3. With in the last 100 years we've made huge technical advances in manufacturing and ways of living which greatly reduces the work load off people but what about the time load? We got all this technology but we are still working the same amount of time if not more. Everything is still based on an 8hour work day 3 shifts . for most people if they can't get 40 hours they can't make it lot of people have to work 60-80 hour's a week or multiple job's just to scrape by. When you got mom and dad working all those hours now that's less time for families. Less time with the kid's then relationships fall apart and so on. I think the amount of time we spend away from family or from our self because of work puts more stress on life in general which just opens the door for more problems. You would think with all this technology our economy would adjust in a way that a common work day would be less possibly 4-6 hour's or 15-20 per week. It's like the one thing technology forgot.Time….

  4. Silicon valley, where the US capitalists steal intellectual properties from foreign born engineers and claim as their own.

  5. The reporter is either really dumb or really good at acting, like all soccer players. Total surveillance is omnipresent in the West, but is done in covert operations, because they know you resent it, whereas, in China, it's done in the open. That's the difference.

  6. Self driven cars? What if the cars have glitches and kills someone? Who sues who and who will take responsibility driver or pedestrian? What about the energy propellant and the hundreds of gasoline, lithium and other chemicals that will take to transport the auto? The effects on the atmosphere? There are smarter ways to create electric cars and using/ creating renewable fuels that will propel people to think creatively how do I want to see my world in 80 years from now?

What about finding a cure for cancer, common flu, schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease with AI? Artificial Intelligence can also be applied to reducing air pollution and reducing landfills. That I would love to see! Instead of wasting tax payers money on other mundane jobs.

  7. The car companies with Full Self Driving you interviewed with were: BMW, Audi, MIT (Lidar), all are inferior and meant to fail. You should have interviewed Tesla. They are using real time cameras and sensors to forecast road condition. Tesla has nailed FSD.

  8. I didn't find the test at 5:00 min ff convincing. I mean anyone who has a glimpse of medicine – even as a layman – can tell you the same as the artificial intelligence does: the dark lungs can be tuberculosis or tumor or edema at some percentage. There is nothing extraordinary with this. I don't need any A.I. to figure that out. I'm quicker.

  9. The test at about 12:00 min referring to Parkinson's I find really dangerous, because my style of walking is very irregular, I know this, as I like jumping around or going faster and slower on my own decision from time to time.

I hope they will never compel me to wear such a gadget measuring my steps.

  10. guys can you also put in the music you use in the bio? some of the backgroundmusic is great and id love to use it myself

  11. Well i found that self driven cars dilemma on who or not to spare in a difficult situation interesting, i feel we could even do better than deciding on what lives need to spared or not! .
Our target should be more to avoid accidents all together than in even achieving autonomous cars first of all.
A.I would certainly reduce road accidents tremendously ,but human behavior is very hard to impossible to predict and such dilemmas would certainly surface!
I feel cars need to be redesigned to be malleable like hovercrafts for example, to be able to fly off at some situations than drive or to be able to sail like boats or perform other actions that "typical" cars couldn't currently do and A.I would execute it almost perfectly!

  12. We as a people have given our minds and body to a system of Profit….Most
of us really believe Man is their God…they will not eat, drink, or have anything
without Man….I feel for these people. If man could be replaced….how long
would it last? NoT long…We will be just creating a dumbed down society
who will believe Man is their God…And they will not survive without the fiat
dollar or a man giving you a job….They studied your brain to understand
how you think and act…I do not believe any machine will last longer than
man…..One big flood and we are all screwed and dumbed down and wouldn't
know what to do without this nonsense….How dumb are we to create profit?
We are are own worst enemies…..Stupidity at its best…And people are scared
they will not eat without a job….SO SAD. As long as we allow men to control
the resources we are doomed…..I believe in a higher being and I know
that force can wipe this all out and where will we be…ONE big flood and we
will all be so stupid we will not have the compassity to solve one problem..
Ugly Ugly…..for the dollar is all this is about…But I know this will not last….
Haven't you seen the futuristic movies where all this robots/gadgets and junk
are just lying everywhere USELESS? DUH…..

  13. 39:00 remind me of the movie I, Robot with Will Smith. The robot save him from drowning instead of the little girl because he had a higher percentage of survival than the girl….

  14. Guaranteed: AI in many future circumstances will cause serious "unintended consequences " that might prove disastrous for mankind.
Why? Because humans are inherently flawed and it is we humans who invent and apply AI. Kind of, the gasoline powered cars came on great until we realized they produced toxic gases and many other problems.

AI will not know about the flaw (s) waiting to erupt in the future. Hence AI will may act in ways it deems normal from it's own logic but from a different POV actually prove disastrous.
For example, a future AI decides that a certain class of people are detrimental ( re eugenics… Nazi applications). Progressively, AI teaches mankind to adopt it's POV. One day, people will adopt AI's POV as a norm. Today's people ( from a distant planet?) will look at the world that the flawed AI created and ask, , "My God, what an evil monstrosity have we created." In a primitive way, humanity has already made these kind of programmed errors. Nazi Germany comes to mind as well as the White man's colonization practices of past centuries. I am keyboarding here, but some of my concerns stem from reading Shoshanna Zoboff's book "The Age of Surveillance -Capitalism".
Also, what I've been trying to say has been a theme in some movies and books.

  15. Germans dont like taking decisions. Ahahaha, boy I laughed so hard! It remembered me on one video about Holland where one guy was taking about dutch bicycling habit. DO NOT step on bike lane! They WILL strike you! They will aim for you and they will HIT you!

  16. Personal data been used should be treated as patented issues, and everyone supported the data should get proper money from those profits who use it?
Everyone as a partner might be able to stop exploitations!

  17. Artificial Intelligence is a joke. Its like a contagious virus just full of death. Its just toxic. Despite all the progress and developments and the assesments that AIโ€™s contribute, they will always stay remotely arbitrary to the actual world. The fields of algorithms used here are confusing with temporary complex catalogues just full of mathematical treatments incoherent to the accretive processes of its protomathematics.

These mechanistic concepts of artificial inteligence have a very destructive impact to our world and in nature. Theyโ€™re lifeless models of structures are repeatedly fed up with goal-oriented programs performance standards contained statistics void of the reality to its actual processes.

To those who believe that AI is the future, โ€œsans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.โ€

  18. 5:39 In the late 1980s when I was studying artificial intelligence in some university courses, I remember reading an article titled "If Artificial Intelligence = the Human Brain, then Cars Should Have Legs." In other words, does AI have to be modeled on the human brain? Might there not be better models of intelligence? Would there be any benefit to designing some sort of intelligence that is different or even superior to human intelligence? Why do we always have to be so fucking arrogant about our so-called intelligence?

  19. Remaining human will consist in the right to make 'irrational' choices due to our individual preferences. Will AI constantly running in the background make our choices for us based upon preference criteria with which we do not agree?

  20. Infact human race is going to transform into an app..they will kill the max of human population only elite will live …then they will use all these gadgets ..

  21. Thanksgiving day today I have watched two DW TV show- well done fair and just unlike the bias manipulative US. Media.

  22. Lol Population of the world is increasing day by day and technology in the name of facility and convenience is creating more unemployment.

  23. I'm not sure people like me would be encouraged to continue existing in an A I dominated world. There'd be no need for human workers.

  24. Itโ€™s true that trust is better than control, but in China surveillance is necessary because there is no trust between people, many crimes caused by ignorant people, many severe crime like children trafficking happens every day…

  25. I had a cashier walk me to the door of Walmart. He explained how hours are being cut and workers are laid off. He explained the facial recognition machines in Walmart and how our profiles are being collected and analyzed. People will lose their homes, vehicles, livelihoods, etc. what will happen to the stay at home society this AI environment is creating?

  26. The only good thing GOOGLE has to do is to simplify the labyrinth of SETTINGS menus. They must put NO at every submenu that questions our privacy. If someone wants to open his "door" to any direction and permit some degree of intrusion then he can do it, not to be obliged to wander in a maze of interconnected menus in order to close doors and protect his privacy, a way many don't follow due to confusion and anger.

  27. Never thought my interests in AI and old Chris Brown songs would ever collide until watching the first few minutes of this video.

  28. This is an amazing documentary! Will we be able to live with ai? How will give opportunities to people who lose their jobs..?

  29. I will fight it cause they are stealing the way we act and do things to use against us and stop us from doing anything new

  30. You: Searches chinese stir fry recipes
Algorithm: Marry hot Chinese women tonight…click to see who's 5 minutes away.

  31. 17:12 Young woman mopping the floor by hand
17:22 "They invested millions to digitize the entire operation"
Weird world, I'll take an old fashioned greasy American Diner with a personable human, Thank you

  32. The last part of the video about millions of decisions will likely come back with women and children first. Meaning that if you're a guy, get ready to be run over far more often than women all while they keep telling you how privileged you are.

  33. If every company cut jobs using robots, Automation and AI then how will people will earn money to purchase/spends on these products and survive?

  34. Nowadays China is using AI, facial features and DNAs to identify and send the minorities to concentration camps… Technology developed under dictatorship will be used to suppress the people voice.

  35. Great content! I learned a lot of new stuff.

34:40 – I think I found a solution. People have to step on a block, or press a button (right next to the walkway) to send signals to incoming "high-tech", autonomous vehicles, so they can stop when they detect the incoming human. If in any case you make M's off this idea in 5-10 years, call me.

  36. AI is like the meat industry – consuming huge amounts of natural resources and energy.
The meat industry consumes huge amounts of water with one burger patty using 660 gallons of water. The meat industry uses approx. 80% of antibiotics produced. They destroy the ground if not rotated and create huge amounts of gas emissions.
The high tech computer industry consumes masses amounts of electricity needing air conditioner facilities 24/7. Outdated equipment is simply tossed. China will no longer accept our "recycled" waste.
I know these tech industries are in competition with each other because their countries are competing for global access. This is a power battle. I'm sure many of those creating this new technology know all the problems but their mantra has become: "If we don't do it. They will!" The world has itself stuck on a treadmill that never stops and is required to go faster and faster.
But eventually something has got to give – and it won't be pretty! In fact it will be a global catastrophe. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail. Tick-tock…Tick-tock…Tick-tock.

  37. A.I….in terms of privacy we claim security…its just a matter of a proper implementation of it …in terms of accuracy, its algorithm regarding a complex and subjective mathematical structure analysis it's very useful….not for a self driving car cuz it is just a poor copy of the actual human ability….it needs online bird view with thermo vision to keep in count all living creature participating in the traffic and connection to all legal traffic devices keeping a constant reading of a minimum 500 meters,360ยฐ in motion …and not even so will it be better than a human due to sudden changes of events that may occur ….notfor the next 40 years and if so…. well…it would be better than us…for our sake ofcourse….
Now … whom is better ? The creator or the creation ? Should we get stuck in the middle of the two or make a blend and carry on since We are consciousness and they have no perception of fear if not programmed so …let them/us play with the new technology and do not forget that longevity was increased due to ourselves therefore technology…

  38. I just realized it'll be easier for people to commit suicide since its a car driving itself people will know noone will be
to blame and the car most likely wont suspect and predict the sudden body jumping forward

  39. This is in reference to the question of coding ethical decisions in a self driving car. This is just an argument to create distraction.

    Some points:

    1. Self driving cars are programmed to stop within a certain distance when travelling at a certain speed

    2. Cars that have been inseminated with AI and are driven by humans will be picking up information from the car in front so that it too will be travelling at a speed which is commensurate with the driving environment and conditions at a point in time which is 10000ths of a second

    3. Self driving cars will pick up that a human being is moving towards it and it will therefore adjust its speed as necessary if it is required to stop in 10000ths of a second. The car behind will pick up information from the car in front that it is likely to stop and that they will do. Not swerve.

    4. Humans are the problems who will make the decisions to attack the self driving car by not paying attention or just exercise silly behavior.

    5. It is a given that a self driving car is less likely to hit somebody 99.99% of the time more than a human driver. Its not issues of ethics and other coding matters that are holding back self driving cars. It is government and businesses which will lose out when there are self driving cars.

  40. Watch the google germanys representives' EYES ๐Ÿ‘€when he's asked about a google-home patent, ….very revealing look Close-ly ๐Ÿ‘€

  41. This is nothing new. China is already using this high tech AI technology in their country . In many way , China city is like living in the future already HAHAHAHA

  42. There are no "pros" in this conversation, unless you are among the 1% who will directly benefit by the implementation of AI and robotics in the work place. You don't have to be Albert Einstein to realize what is about to happen. In fact, it has already begun. This new technology will completely and permanently eliminate at least 50% of today's current jobs within the next few years, and by the end of the decade, very few occupations will be left outside of the computer scientists and technicians required to service these fully automated devices.
The first jobs to go will be the ones concerning manufacturing, which have been in use making automobiles for decades. Next, professional driversโ€”from cabbies, to Uber drivers, to truckersโ€”will be totally eliminated by self-driving vehicles. Then, most medical positions, like radiologists, will be permanently replaced by robots, which are faster and more accurate. Even now, many delicate surgical procedures are being augmented with this same technology, and soon nearly all such medical necessities will be delegated to robotics. Following that, most service personnel, including attorneys, accountants, and even professional airline pilots, will go the way of the Dodo. Even actors will eventually be replaced by super realistic CGI graphics. Don't believe me?? Just look at any popular video game now in existence.
Once all the good jobs are gone, politicians (like Andrew Yang, years ahead of his time), will be forced to authorize free government handouts (known as "Universal Basic Income"), to 99% of the general population, who will be permanently put out of work because of these new mechanical "wonders." Without this government stipend, surely violence in the street and total societal breakdown will occur, thus necessitating the creation of this emergency measure. Without question or controversy, this is the dark future of humanity, and its just around the corner.

  44. Pornography makes privacy frivolous. ย The world may have seen my sphincter but my hard drive is private.
